The changes to the platform concern the protection of user data and access. In particular, the level of protection can be changed. Only people over the age of 18 will be able to use the platform. The updates will take effect from April 9, 2024.
According to the team, the innovations will strengthen the trust of people using World ID. They will make the work of the service more transparent. Users will be able to have more control over the actions performed.
Customers are given the opportunity to cancel the verification by World ID, which involves the use of iris code. In order to cancel, a request will have to be submitted. Within 6 months it will be possible to cancel this request, if suddenly a person changes his mind to disable this method of protection. If the decision is well-considered and the user has not changed his mind in six months, the data will be deleted permanently and it will be impossible to restore it.
The update was developed with the participation of experts from various entities, including the Bavarian State Data Protection Supervisory Authority (BayLDA). This organization is considered the main supervisory authority in the EU.
The second change involves a thorough verification of the age of users. Before the iris scan, platform administrators will perform additional age checks.
